SOUTH BEND’S OWN HALF-PINT JONES JOINS FORCES WITH NOTRE DAME FOR CANCER BENEFIT AT LEGENDS AT NOTRE DAME

“COACHES VS. CANCER: A LEAP FOR A CAUSE”

SOUTH BEND, IN (February 14, 2008)—Half-Pint Jones, a South Bend-based local favorite band has joined forces with members of the Notre Dame Athletic Department to organize and host a benefit to raise funds for Cancer Awareness. COACHES VS. CANCER: A LEAP FOR A CAUSE will be held at Legends at Notre Dame on February 29, 2008 from 8-11pm.

Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Brey and his wife, Tish, are joining Half-Pint Jones in this extremely important event. The event will be a night of music with Half-Pint Jones, a funk/fusion/jazz quintet, that has developed a huge following in Michiana and Chicago areas, but loves to play their hometown of South Bend more than anything. The band has played Legends several times this year, and is very excited to head up this exciting night.

Steve Krojniewski, the drummer for Half-Pint Jones, is taking the reigns on this event. “Cancer has touched each of us in the band in some way, and we felt that it was our responsibility to get involved with an event such as this one to really help the cause,” Krojniewski (also known as Krojo) says. “I’m really excited to be a part of this and hope that we can really bring in a great deal of money for cancer research.”

The night will include a raffle, with prizes including: $50 Gift Certificates to Lula’s CafÈ and Dhanwantari Yoga Center; a $20 Gift Certificate to The Wine Shop at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks; two (2) $20 Gift Certificates to The Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, and a massage from Preventative Medicine. In addition to the raffle, there will be an auction containing Notre Dame Basketball tickets and Notre Dame memorabilia, among many others.

Generous sponsors for the event include (as of February 14): Sunny 101.5, The American Cancer Society, and Quality Glass. Dean Catanzarite, from Quality Glass, is helping out with promotions for the event.

Tickets for Coaches Vs. Cancer: A Leap For A Cause will be $50, which will include a full open bar during the entire event. Tickets are available at Legends at Notre Dame and Between The Buns.
